Upayavira: hero of skilful means
I was given the name 'Upayavira' in 2000 when I was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order. It is a Sanskrit name, which translates to 'Hero of Means', or 'skilful hero'. More longwinded, it becomes "He who, with great enthusiasm, finds creative ways to help others on the path to Enlightenment". To embody this, I've first got to work out what Enlightenment is!

Having worked in IT since 1990, recent experience has covered java web application development, open source development (particularly within the Apache Software Foundation), and systems work in python. I've recently been enjoying becoming an adept at bash. It is quite amazing what the antiquated bash can achieve.
